Military Daysacks

A daysack is a small rucksack able to carry the items that you require for a short duration whilst separated from your main equipment. Typically in an Army or military role, the daysack would be used to carry a limited amount of food and water but an awful lot of ammunition and other military supplies.

Capacity

A daysack will normally have a capacity of somewhere between 10-15 to 45-50 litres although military daysacks will tend to err towards the upper end of that scale. Anything larger than this is probably a main rucksack.

Camouflage

The introduction into the UK military of Multi Terrain Pattern (MTP) camouflage has created confusion and many people are unaware that you cannot legally buy new equipment or clothing in this pattern. Instead enterprising manufacturers use similar patterns that can be almost indistinguishable from MTP except by real experts.

MTP is actually based on Crye Precision Multicam and the majority of compatible products come in this pattern. There are other options though and patterns such as the Vista ATP used by Vanguard are becoming increasingly popular.

The other alternative we recommend is sandstone which is the MTP/Multicam base colour. All the sandstone daysacks and battle belts we sell have Molle loops which allow MTP/Multicam pouches to be attached which does a great job of making it compatible.

Features

Modern daysacks are impressive items that often come with a vast array of features. These can include internal hydration systems, MOLLE (aka PALS) loops, a vast array of pockets both internal and external, wast bands and openings for aerials.
