Traser watches are well known throughout the military and police and have a great reputation for robustness and of course the very bright and easily readable analogue dials. Even at night Trasers only need a quick glance to read.
Trasers are made by Mb-Microtec of Switzerland. Their very bright 'Trigalight' or "gaseous tritium light sources" last up to 20 years and don't rely on batteries. The company is actually more oriented towards the light technology than the watches themselves and don't manufacture the movements, but use movements from high-quality Swiss manufacturer Ronda.
Trasers are all rugged and none are just fashion sports watches, although there they do come in a range of styles that suit general outdoor use through to extremely rugged and military use. For example many use a traditional two part strap and a common first modification is to switch to a NATO or G10 style strap which passes through both pins.
Traser watch glasses are either hardened mineral glass or the more expensive Sapphire crystal glass. Sapphire is more resistant to scratching although is more brittle. For general military use where a few scratches don't matter, hardened mineral glass is probably a better option and is used in the more functional watches such as the P5900. The more attractive and stylish, but arguably less practical Chrono BD Pro uses Sapphire glass.
An occasional criticism of Trasers is the lack of second hand illumination. While rarely a problem it does mean that on some occasions a light will need to be used.
